Worked for General Offshore Corp, you know that outfit in Hanger 3 in NAS Brunswick, Maine that everyone thought was CIA. I returned to active duty in 1989, after doing sometime as a SELRES in VP-MAU. Became a FE and flew with VP-10 from 1990 until 1993, I then transferred down to NAS Patuxent River, Maryland and NRL until 1997. My enlistment expired after the detailer offered me nothing but USS out of Norfolk, so I became a SELRES again and affiliated with VP-92. Made Chief in 1998, was recalled to support VP Squadrons in NAS Sigonella, Sicily during the Kosovo Campaign in 1999, VP-10 and VP-16. After that little excursion I found employment on the Staff of Commander Naval Air Forces Reserve in my hometown of New Orleans as the T56 Tech Rep and I began serving with VP-94 from 2000 until I retired in June of 2005. With the eminent departure of the Reserve Air Staff to Norfolk and the dwindling number of Reserve P-3 and C-130 squadrons I decided to take my leave. Memorial Picture "...LOPEZ, CAPTAIN Gary S...Died May 16th, 2003 from pancreatic cancer. Gary's first P-3 assignment was with the Blue Sharks of VP-6. He then affiliated with the Reserves and was a PPC/MC with VP-92 at NAS South Weymouth, Massachusetts. He screened for Command and became the Commanding Officer of the Northern Sabre's Patrol Squadron Master Augment Unit (VP-MAU), NAS Brunswick, Maine. He was promoted to the rank of Captain and in October 1994 retired after 27 years of Naval Service. Gary worked for the FAA for the last 25 years and most recently was the Boston Flight Standards District Office Manager. He was named the FAA National Manager of the year two times and the Regional Manager of the Year four times. He leaves behind his wife Christina, and sons Scott, Todd, Chad and daughter Gina. Now retired and living near the Bangor Sub Base in Washington State. I did a job for Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute at Cape Cod back in 97. I went to sea on a civilian science ship and operated / maintained JASON, their underwater camera sled that allows s cientists to investigate the deepest depths of the ocean. This is the same unit they used to find the Titanic before exploring it with Alvin, the 3 man submersible. For you old timers from NAS South Weymouth, Massachusetts, Will Sellers is the chief pilot for this vehicle. I have been a realtor here for the last 3 years with John L. Scott, one of the largest and successful regional operations in the country, covering 3 states.
