Circa 1958 "...POPPLEWELL, LCDR Lachlan Burdette Retired...My name is Wesley Dean Popplewell, grandson of LCDR Lachlan Burdette Popplewell. Served June 1941 thru June 1963. He served with VP-46 and VP-MS-2 flying the PBM. He was based at NAS North Island, San Diego, California. I’ve recently discovered a box in my father’s attic containing a treasure trove of my grandfather’s navy history. As a pilot and writer, I’m trying to collect as much information of my grandfather’s unit and if possible, stories of him to write a biography. LCDR Popplewell passed away in 1984.
